§ Mr. Ashdownasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a list showing, by Inland Revenue region (a) the number of pay as you earn taxpayers, (b) the number of pay as you earn taxpayers, on the latest quarterly figures, not yet assessed or otherwise cleared for the last tax year and (c) figures comparable to (b) for the position of this assessing work in each of the last three years.
