HC Deb 07 March 1985 vol 74 cc554-5W
Mr. David Young

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions were instituted in the last 12 months for which figures are available against the drivers and occupants of private security vans for breach of traffic legislation.

Mr. Mellor

The types of proceedings specified are not separately identifiable in the information collected centrally on court proceedings.

Mr. David Young

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what discussions his officials have had with the operators of private security firms about their adherence to traffic regulations.

Mr. Giles Shaw

None. Enforcement of road traffic law, which applies equally to private security vehicles and drivers as to others, is the responsibility of the chief officers of police.
