HC Deb 07 March 1985 vol 74 c553W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Prime Minister whether the circumstances in which Her Majesty's Government will intervene in the internal workings of the Channel Islands include taking steps to promote better legal administrations on the islands.

The Prime Minister

The Channel Islands are internally self-governing dependencies of the Crown. I am not aware of any problems arising from their legal administration which would justify the exceptional exercise of the United Kingdom's paramount power to intervene in their internal affairs.
