asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much has been paid to members of the Northern Ireland Assembly up to 31 January (a) in salaries, (b) in secretarial allowances and (c) in travel allowances.

Mr. Hurd

Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly have received the following payments between 25 October 1982 and 31 January 1985:

  1. (a) Salaries: £1,402,165
  2. (b) Secretarial allowances: £707,319
  3. (c) Travel allowances: £311,584
