HC Deb 07 March 1985 vol 74 cc576-7W
Mr. Richard Page

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many and what percentage of the traffic at each of London's airports is accounted for by passengers making a connection between one international flight and another.

Mr. Michael Spicer

Provisional figures for 1984 show that 3.4 million passengers at Heathrow made a connection between one international flight and another, representing almost 12 per cent, of total terminal passengers at Heathrow. The equivalent figures for Gatwick were 0.6 million and 4 per cent. The number of such passengers at Luton and Stansted was negligible.

Mr. Richard Page

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many passengers were handled at each of London's airports in 1974, 1979 and the last year.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The figures are:

Terminal Passengers (000s)
1974 1979 *1984
Heathrow 20,077.3 27,978.5 29,163.9
Gatwick 5,119.4 8,694.6 13,955.8
