§ Mr. Beggsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received regarding the level of taxation on tobacco products from (a) organisations representing tobacco producers and (b) organisations representing employees in the tobacco industry; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HayhoeGroups throughout the industry, including the Tobacco Advisory Council, have made representations. I have also received a full report of the discussion held with the deputation led by the hon. Member. All the arguments put forward will be carefully considered.
