HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c441W
Q22. Mr. Ron Brown

asked the Prime Minister what recent representations she has made to the Libyan authorities about the imprisonment of two Scots, Robert Maxwell and Michael King.

The Prime Minister

The British interests section of the Italian embassy in Libya raised Mr. Maxwell's case with the appropriate Libyan authorities at a senior level in September and again in November 1984. A reply is awaited.

I understand that Mr. King's lawyer is making an appeal against his recent sentence.

The British interests section continues to keep a close and active interest in both cases.
