§ Mr. Alan ClarkThe Department is not undertaking any research in isolation into the connection between employee national insurance contributions and the level of employment. Some research has been commissioned from the Centre for Labour Economics into the factors that determine the demand for employment. This has included the cost of labour to employees, one item of which is employees' national insurance contributions.
