HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c484W
Mr. John David Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what are the allowances and expenses for which members of district councils qualify.

Mr. Chris Patten

[pursuant to his reply, 28 February 1985, c. 260]: District councillors qualify for attendance, special responsibility and special loss allowances, the reimbursement of expenses of official and courtesy visits and payments towards expenses incurred in attending conferences and meetings. They are also entitled to travel and subsistence allowances. All of these are determined by regulations made by the Department of the Environment (Northern Ireland).
