During the seven months since my right hon. Friend announced the changes to the community programme, on 30 July 1984, we have received some 400 letters. I have also met Lady Platt, chairman of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

The community programme continues to make excellent progress. At the end of January some 131,000 people were taking part.
