HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c453W
Mr. Merchant

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what funds his Department gives to the British Youth Council (Scotland); for what purposes; and what funds his Department gives to other youth organisations, including those connected with International Youth Year.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Levels of grant for 1985–86 have not yet been decided. For 1984–85 recurrent grant amounting to £18,504 was paid under the Further Education (Scotland) Regulations 1959–79 towards the administration costs incurred by the British Youth Council (Scotland). For the same period, my Department paid a total of £467,126 recurrent grant under these regulations to other voluntary youth organsiations. Grants given to the International Youth Year Scottish Co-ordinating Committee since 1 April 1983 amount to £39,794. It is expected that all youth organisations will promote International Youth Year.
