HC Deb 05 March 1985 vol 74 c435W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations Her Majesty's Government plan to make to the arms reduction talks in Geneva.

Mr. Rifkind

We shall follow the Geneva talks with great interest and look forward to maintaining the closest contacts with the United States. My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister recently discussed the prospects for the negotiations with President Reagan. My hon. Friend the Member for Shoreham (Mr. Luce) hopes to meet the chief United States negotiators when he visits Geneva to address the conference on disarmament on 11 to 12 March. Mr. Gorbachev's visit in December provided an opportunity to exchange views with the Soviet Union.
