§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list all those companies known to be operating private contracts within the National Health Service, indicating the services offered.
§ Mr. Kenneth Clarke[pursuant to his reply, 28 February 1985, c. 275]: Health authorities employ a 516W large number of companies to provide services such as engineering, equipment and building maintenance and window cleaning. However, I assume the hon. Member is referring to domestic, catering and laundry services for hospitals. We are aware of the following companies which have been awarded contracts for these services.
Domestic—Berkeley-Taylorplan, Crothalls, Exclusive, HHS, ICC, Initial, ISS, Lesters, Mediclean, OCS, RCO, Reckitts, and Sunlight.Catering —Allied Medical and Spinneys.Laundry —Advance, Co-operative (Wallsend), Express, Initial, Kneels, Smarts and Sunlight.
