§ Dr. BoysonThere are 9 wages councils in Northern Ireland, as follows:
- (1) Baking wages council
- (2) Boot and shoe repairing wages council
- (3) Catering wages council
- (4) Clothing manufacturing wages council
- (5) Laundry wages council
- (6) Linen and cotton handkerchief and household goods and linen piece goods wages council
- (7) Paper box wages council
- (8) Road haulage wages council
- (9) Sugar confectionery and food preserving wages council
§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current statutory minimum remuneration laid down by each of the wages councils in Northern Ireland for a 40-hour week.
§ Dr. BoysonThe following table illustrates the current adult statutory minimum remuneration. In some industries there is a range of statutory minimums in accordance with gradings laid down by the relevant wages council. The table shows the highest and lowest of these.
