HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c386W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many tenanted houses of General Needs Housing Association houses in Wales have been sold to sitting tenants with a discount; and what proportion this is in percentage terms and numbers of the total stock of General Needs Housing Association houses.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The total number of dwellings sold by housing associations in Wales to sitting tenants under the Housing Act 1980 was 106 at September 1984; a further 743 sales of co-ownership dwellings had been completed by that date. Detailed information on discounts is not held centrally, but apart from those made by charitable associations all these sales are likely to have attracted discounts. These sales represent 5.3 per cert of Welsh housing association stock of some 16,000 dwellings. No information is available on the proportion of these dwellings which are classified as "General Need".
