HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c344W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many tenanted houses of General Needs Housing Association houses have been sold to sitting tenants in England with a discount; and what proportion this is in percentage terms and numbers of the total stock of General Needs Housing Association houses.

Sir George Young

No information is held centrally on housing associations sales completed in England with a discount on market valuation. However, between April 1979 and September 1984, 6,910 housing association dwellings were sold to sitting tenants in England, representing 1.7 per cent. of the housing associations' fair rent stock at 1 April 1984. In addition, 25,360 co-ownership sales were completed during that period.
