asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many successful prosecutions there have been under section 75 of the Companies Act 1980; if he is satisfied with the workings of the Companies Act 1980 in practice; and if he will make a statement.

There have been no prosecutions under section 75 of the Companies Act 1980. The workings of United Kingdom company law are kept under review and we are always willing to consider constructive suggestions for improvement.
