asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any plans to increase Christmas bonuses.

Mr. Whitney

The rate of the Christmas bonus is considered each year in accordance with section 4 of the Pensioners' Payments and Social Security Act 1979. The rate will be announced and an order to give effect to the bonus for 1985 will be laid before the House in due course.
