§ Mr. Peter BottomleyIn 1983, the pay of 81,615 workers covered by the three wages councils for the hotel and catering trade was checked; 8,630 or 10.6 per cent. were found to have been underpaid, and 6,905 or 80 per cent. received arrears of pay amounting to £831,018.
