HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c406W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what reply he has received from the regional medical officer of the North-East Thames regional health authority in response to the proposals he has sent to him in respect of a pilot trial relating to the presence of doctors and nurses at blood donor sessions.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We have made no proposals to the regional medical officer. He is proposing a pilot trial in which nurses will be substituted for doctors at blood donor sessions. We have asked him to seek the views of the Advisory Committee on the National Blood Transfusion Service before putting such a trial into practice. He has not yet responded.
