HC Deb 01 March 1985 vol 74 c296W
Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the latest security position at RAF Molesworth.

Mr. Lee

The site has been cleared of trespassers, the temporary fencing and associated facilities are in place, and the construction of a permanent fence is in hand. The site is guarded by the Ministry of Defence police. There have been a number of incidents of trespass and fence cutting but none has been of any significance and all is proceeding to schedule.

Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects the new byelaw presently being drafted by lawyers employed by his Ministry to control peace demonstrations at the proposed cruise missile base at Royal Air Force Molesworth to come into force.

Mr. Lee

Draft byelaws for the purpose of regulating the use of RAF Molesworth for defence purposes are currently being advertised for public comment. They will be made and come into force after any comments in response to the advertisement have been properly considered.
