§ 63. Mr. Patrick Thompsonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what changes he anticipates in the proportion of public expenditure by local authorities spent on education during the next five years.
§ Mr. DunnThe proportion of the total relevant current expenditure of local authorities allocated to education in the Government's plans (as set out in Cmnd. 9428) is 49.5 per cent. in 1985–86 and just below 49 per cent. in 1986–87 and 1987–88. Allocations to services for the latter two years are provisional and remain subject to review. Decisions have yet to be taken on the overall level and allocation to services of local authority expenditure after 1987–88.
