Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will state the total costs of the setting-up of London Docklands Development Corporation area offices in (a) Southwark and (b) Silvertown.

Sir George Young

The costs are some £245,000 for Southwark and £275,000 at the Royal Victoria Dock. Much of this cost will be recovered in due course.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will state the total cost of the London Docklands Development Corporation's re-location of offices from the Isle of Dogs to the Royal Victoria dock.

A disused building at Gallion's Reach near the Albert Basin has been refurbished to house the headquarters staff relocated from the Isle of Dogs at a cost of about £220,000, including the installation of telecommunications equipment.

This operation will free valuable premises in the enterprise zone on the Isle of Dogs.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much has been spent by the London Docklands Development Corporation on hospitality, public relations and personal expenses during each of the past three financial years.
