asked the Secretary of State for Transport if it remains his intention that work on the A41 Hemel Hempstead and Bourne End bypass should commence in 1986–87; and if he will make a statement.

The report "National Roads, England 1985" published on 20 June, following my review of the road programme, places the A41 Berkhamsted and Kings Langley bypasses in the part of the programme for start of construction in the period April 1987 to March 1989.
