§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the current percentage of owner-occupied housing in the London Docklands Development Corporation area on the basis of (i) housing completions (ii) housing completions and new starts (iii) housing completions, starts and schemes with planning permission, respectively.
§ Sir George Young[pursuant to his reply, 3 June 1985, c. 53]: The information requested is as follows:
- (i) of the housing stock in the LDDC area at 31 March 1985 (including 2,446 new houses completed and occupied since 1981), 15 per cent. of dwellings were owner-occupied;
- (ii) when schemes currently under construction are completed, the percentage could rise to about 23 per cent. The figure may, however, be lower because the total number of dwellings which may be acquired by housing associations is not known at this stage;
- (iii) when numbers of existing dwellings, new completions, units started and units with planning permission (on both LDDC and other land) are taken together, the percentage of owner—occupation in Docklands may be about 37 per cent. Here, again, acquisitions by housing associations could lead to a lower figure.
