§ Mr. Hicksasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about the future 60W provision of his Department's veterinary advisory and research facilities in Devon and Cornwall, with specific reference to any changes in their functions, responsibilities and location.
§ Mr. JoplingAs I said in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Tiverton (Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop) on 15 April 1985, I have accepted the main thrust of the recommendations of the recent efficiency study of the veterinary investigation service which bear on the functions and responsibilities of this service. As regards location, the recommendation that the veterinary investigation centres at Starcross and Truro should be replaced by a new centre at Launceston is the subject of one of a number of cost appraisals now being carried out. When I have the results of these appraisals and I have completed consideration of the views of the outside interests which have been submitted. I will make a further announcement.
