In 1984, 2,034 redundancies affecting 10 or more workers were notified to the Manpower Services Commission as due to occur in the Dundee jobcentre area. There have been 318 new jobs, and 99 safeguarded jobs, associated with offers of selective financial assistance under section 7 of the Industrial Development Act 1982 made to projects in the city of Dundee district in 1984. Many jobs are also created without such assistance.
