§ Mr. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the payment rates for prisoners 87W in Her Majesty's prisons and the levels of and reasons for pocket money, including the figures currently being received by Mr. Peter Sutcliffe.
§ Mr. MellorMoneys paid to inmates of Her Majesty's prisons relate to the work performed. No other payments are made. The current rates of earnings are contained in prison department circular instruction No. 41/1984, a copy of which is in the Library.
Mr. Peter Sutcliffe is a patient in the special hospital at Broadmoor, which is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services.
