HC Deb 18 June 1985 vol 81 c101W
5. Mr. Penhaligon

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information the Minister envisages an employee will have to give to his employer in order to be eligible for the family credit, as set out by the Green Paper "Reform of Social Security", (Cmnd. 9517).

Mr. Newton

Under the proposals in the Green Paper, claims for family credit will be made direct to the DHSS by the employee. If the claim is successful the DHSS will inform both the employee and the employer of the amount to be paid. I do not envisage that an employee need give his employer any other information about the claim.
