§ Mr. Hickmetasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many orthopaedic operations were performed by each district health authority within the Yorkshire regional health authority and what was the waiting list for orthopaedic: treatment in each district health authority in the last year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. John PattenInformation on in-patient waiting lists is available centrally by the specialty of the consultant but not by operation. The numbers of in-patient cases treated in the specialty of trauma and orthopaedics and the numbers awaiting admission to this specialty are given in the table. Numbers of operations are not readily available but nationally some 60 per cent. of cases in this specialty54W receive operations. Over half of the admissions to this specialty in the region are immediate and many of those on waiting lists already have a planned date of admission.
