HC Deb 17 June 1985 vol 81 cc6-7W
Mr. Gregory

asked the Prime Minister if she will list the matters relating to the United Kingdom confectionery industry on which (a) the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and (b) the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, respectively, answer parliamentary questions.

The Prime Minister

In general the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is responsible for the sponsorship of the confectionery industry, including product labelling and compositional standards, but specific matters such as consumer protection and overseas trade are matters for the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

A general guide to Departmental responsibilities is contained in The Civil Service Year Book 1985, a copy of which is in the Library of the House.
