§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many single homeless people are registered in Hartlepool for social security allowances; and how many will be disqualifiable under any time rule applied to the nature of their accommodation.
§ Mr. WhitneyI assume the hon. Member is referring to single supplementary benefit claimants who live in board and lodging accommodation. When cases were examined following the introduction of new regulations effective from 29 April 1985, 219 claimants in the Hartlepool area were single boarders. Of these 107 were subject to a limit of four weeks following which, although they would not be disqualified, they would no longer be eligible to be treated as boarders in that area for supplementary benefit purposes.
