§ Mr. HeddleQl17. asked the Prime Minister what is the number of council houses purchased under the right-to-buy legislation since the enactment of the Housing Act 1980.
§ The Prime MinisterBy the end of 1984, 527,485 homes had been bought under the right-to-buy legislation by tenants of local authorities and new towns in Great Britain. This figure excludes other homes which have been bought under voluntary sale schemes. If those are included, the number rises to about 820,000.
