§ Mr. Donald Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what reply he has given to the letter from the 447W Aberdeen university student representative council on the subject of an additional allowance for students attending the university.
§ Mr. YoungerThe points made by the Aberdeen University Students' Representative Council have been noted, but there is no possibility of any special arrangements being introduced for Aberdeen university students at the present time as the awards settlement for the forthcoming academic session has already been announced. The Government are about to engage in consultations on the future of the system of financial support for students in the United Kingdom and the particular circumstances of students undertaking higher education courses in Scotland will be taken into account. A reply on these lines was sent by the Scottish Education Department to the Aberdeen University Students' Representative Council on 11 June.
