§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has as to which European Economic Community countries provide for (a) citizens and (b) settled persons to bring in (1) husbands, (2) wives, (3) fiancés and (4) fiancées as of right.
§ Mr. WaddingtonApart from meeting their European Community obligations I understand from the information currently available that, of the European Community countries, Denmark, France and Greece make statutory provision for the admission of husbands and wives to join spouses who are either nationals of those countries or permanent residents; in the case of Belgium, any EC national has the right, to be joined by his or her wife or husband. The other countries make varying administrative 443W arrangements for the admission of husbands and wives. No country appears to make specific statutory provision for the admission of fiancés and fiancés.
§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many hon. Members have 100 or more stops outstanding on immigration cases;
(2) what is the average length of time over which a stop operates in advance of a decision being made on a particular immigrant.
