§ 57. Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he is taking to increase the proportion made to secure the improvement and repair of the national housing stock.
§ Sir George YoungGross housing provision in England in the current year is £3,051 million, of which a substantial part will be spent on improving and repairing the housing stock.
The Government have published a Green Paper (Cmnd. 9513) outlining their proposals for improving the condition of private sector housing in England and Wales. My Department has also asked local authorities to report on the condition of their housing stock, and results are expected in July.
