HC Deb 03 June 1985 vol 80 cc48-9W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much, in percentage terms, of Government-owned surplus land is being managed or disposed of by in-house resources, such as the Property Services Agency, and how much by the private sector.

Sir George Young

PSA appoints private sector agents to handle all significant open market disposals of civil and MOD surplus properties for which it is responsible.

Most private treaty sales for example to other public bodies or former owners are dealt with in-house in conjunction with the district valuer. No figures are available of the percentage of the total these represent.

Until disposal is effected, day to day management is carried out by PSA, in-house.
