§ Mr. Fisher.asked the Prime Minister whether she will publish a full list of all sources of potential Government data on identifiable individual members of the public updating the information in appendix 6 of tables 1 and 2 of the Lindop report.

§ The Prime MinisterTables 1 and 2 of appendix 6 of the Lindop report do not contain information about the sources of personal data held by Government Departments. Such information is not available centrally and could not be obtained with disproportionate expense. Once the registration provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984 come into effect, however, individual Government Departments will be required to register the personal data which they hold and to describe the sources of their data in the register established under section 4 of the Act which will be available for public inspection.
