HC Deb 03 June 1985 vol 80 c87W
Mr. Beggs

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied that all stores for intervention grain in Great Britain are vermin and weather-proof.

Mr. MacGregor

Intervention stores are required to have adequate protection against weather and pests. They are inspected before grain is taken in and periodically during storage.

Mr. Beggs

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the normal period during which intervention grain is held in storage in Great Britain.

Mr. MacGregor

Intervention grain has remained in store in Great Britain for varying periods in recent seasons, reflecting changes in domestic and world supply and demand for grain.

Mr. Beggs

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the present cost per tonne per month for storage of intervention grain.

Mr. MacGregor

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Sheffield, Brightside (Miss Maynard) on 7 March at column567.
