§ Mr. Campbell-Savoursasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the carcinogenicity, replacement studies, clearance and use of Alachlor.
§ Mrs. FennerFurther to my reply to the hon. Member on 27 March 1985, the clearance and uses of alachlor have been subjected to a preliminary review by the Advisory Committee on Pesticides. The committee concluded that the existing required safety precautions were adequate for its current limited United Kingdom uses and recommended reducing clearance to the provisional commercial level pending detailed assessment of the replacement data. The recommendation has been accepted and the assessment is proceeding.
