§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish a list of road vehicle registration prefixes showing the local area for which each is issued; and if he will undertake a simplification of the system in such a way as to provide a clearer identification of the place of registration of a vehicle.
§ Mr. Michael SpicerThis information is most readily available in commercially produced publications and I have asked for copies to be made available in the Library shortly. The registration number format was reviewed in 1982 following an extensive consultation exercise and I see no need for further changes at this time.
