HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c853W
Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to ensure that Torness power station will not be commissioned until all appropriate safety checks have been satisfactorily completed by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate.

Mr. Allan Stewart

I am advised by the Health and Safety Commission that the commissioning of Torness nuclear power station cannot commence until a consent has been issued by the Health and Safety Executive on the advice of Her Majesty's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate. The consent will not be issued until the inspectorate is satisfied that it is safe to commission the station.
