Mr. Beggs

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish details of all Northern Ireland schools which have been allocated discretionary teaching posts during the school year 1985–86, including the number of such posts in each school.

Mr. Scott

As the details are voluminous, I shall write to the hon. Gentleman.

Mr. Beggs

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what consultation takes place between education and library boards and the Department of Education regarding the allocation of discretionary teaching posts in each board area.

Mr. Scott

The Department of Education for Northern Ireland has full discussions with officers of each education and library board about the allocation of teaching posts to all controlled schools under its management.

Mr. Beggs

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish details of schools which have had falling enrolments since 1984–85 and have been allocated discretionary posts in 1985–86.

Mr. Scott

This information cannot be supplied because figures for school enrolments in 1985–86 are not yet available.
