HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c824W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the updating of safety regulations for cinemas and other public places.

Mr. Giles Shaw

My right hon. and learned Friend will shortly be consulting interested organisations on revisions to the Cinematograph (Safety) Regulations 1955 which take account of changes which have taken place in film exhibiting since 1955. So far as other public places of entertainment are concerned, the safety requirements are, in the main, controlled by conditions imposed in the licence which can be updated at the discretion of the licensing authority.
