§ Mr. Blairasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will place in the Library details of the number and proportion of shares in public corporations privatised during the period 1979 to the present issued at quotation to employee shareholders and the details and costs of the schemes which were funded by (a) the company and (b) the Exchequer; and if he will state which Vote the Exchequer funding was accounted under;
(2) if he will place in the Library a list giving the dates of all privatisation share issues from 1979 to the present., distinguishing between those issued by tender and those at fixed prices, together with details of schemes for promoting small shareholding, and the cost of such schemes including details of the initial allocation of shares by size band in all cases, the percentage of applications received under each size band, an analysis by size band of the compilation of the share register and the latest available figures.
§ Mr. MooreI regret that it has not been possible to provide an answer before the summer recess. Therefore, I shall write to the hon. Member and place a copy of the letter in the Library.
