HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 cc866-7W
Dr. Marek

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make it his policy to ensure that, when personal data are transferred from Government Departments or other organisations to the Inland Revenue, such transfers are fully recorded and documented by the Inland Revenue.

Mr. Moore

It would not be practicable for the Inland Revenue to record and document each occasion on which personal data are transferred to the Department by a third party. The Inland Revenue is, however, setting up a registration system under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1984.
