HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c908W
Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the minimum yield of explosion carried out for the purposes of underground nuclear tests in the Soviet Union which can be detected using existing verification equipment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Luce

Current capabilities for detecting nuclear explosions are addressed in the working paper on "Seismic Monitoring for a Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban" which the United Kingdom tabled earlier this month at the Geneva conference on disarmament. A copy of this paper is in the Library.
