HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 cc923-4W
Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many young people in the Newry and Armagh district travel-to-work area are presently unemployed.

Dr. Boyson

Newry and Armagh do not of themselves constitute travel-to-work areas. However, the number of unemployed young persons aged under 18 in the Newry and Mourne and Armagh district council areas at June 1985 were 218 and 138 respectively.

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many redundancies are registered in the Newry and Armagh district travel-to-work areas.

Dr. Boyson

Newry and Armagh do not of themselves constitute travel-to-work areas for Department recording purposes. There were no notified redundancies in the towns of Newry or Armagh at 30 June 1985.
