HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c900W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what measures he intends to take to protect the green belt from development in the light of the sale by the Department of Transport of an option to develop 90 acres of green belt land known as Brickets Wood at the M1/M25 interchange.

Mr. Macfarlane

The option to be sold by the Department of Transport will simply permit the option purchaser to apply to the local planning authority for permission to develop the site. If the authority were minded to give permission for what it regarded as a substantial departure from the approved development plan, it would not be able to do so without prior reference to my right hon. Friend.
