HC Deb 26 July 1985 vol 83 c811W
Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make additional provision for staffing of the office of the Data Registrar.

Mr. Waddington

The explanatory and financial memorandum to the Data Protection Bill indicated that the registrar would initially need about 20 staff.

It was made clear during the passage of the Bill, however, that we would consider sympathetically any requests from the Registrar for more staff and as a result of discussions with him a staffing complement of 47 has been approved. A request for a further increase is being considered.
